For the winter 2015 edition of Cardiology, a quarterly publication of the American College of Cardiology (ACC), I was asked do illustrate the last-page infographic in the hand-rendered style of graphic recording.
Based on bullet-pointed facts and figures, I quickly sketched corresponding visuals to mimic the spontenaety of visual capture, then put them into a layout around a sketch of the ACC's "Heart House" in Washington, DC. Almost all work was done by hand, with all phases of the project done in the relative speed and spontenaety of a real-world sketchnoting/graphic recording session. Photoshop was used only to adjust earlier versions of the layout, and for final scanning and color adjustments.
This project won an award in Graphic Design USA's 2015 InHouse Design Awards.
